There were times when everyone would echo the old adage that `What happened at Amber's parties, stayed at Amber's party.` We simply felt it was just right, especially if most of what happened were just rumours anyway. I think she aspired to political office, and would not want things in her past to bite her in the arse someday. But the undertone of it all was that you had a good time, even if someone had to recount those good times for you the next day. `Good Times` was another cultural idiom attributed most to her.
I do remember last year's "surprise" constumed birthday party that Sara and I threw for her at Damon's house. She wasn't at all that surprised, neither at the party nor my inefficacy to pull it off. But she enjoyed herself all the same -- everyone did. You know it was gonna be a helluva night when Tim showed up in full 16th century Scottish battle garb, complete with authenticate claymore. Then Amber helped decorate her own cake, and invited -- nay, challenged -- anyone to fashion a creative birthday wish with the remaining letters. (There's a picture of it somewhere on this site. I invite you to find it, and chuckle at her self-directed chagrin.)
That was Amber, the one you couldn't fit into `a nutshell`, or a one-liner. From her 'Tini parties and birthday parties, to night's out in Manch-Vegas and mornings waking up in Beantown, she made every day her birthday.
